captivated.

Captivate (V): to attract and hold the attention or interest of, as by beauty or excellence; enchant.
I love the sunset. It is, I think, a colorful, vivid expression of God’s imagination. It is beauty manifested; it is perfectly controlled chaos, free of lines and confinement but put so neatly in its place.

I remember that night like it was yesterday, when we sat up at three in the morning and talked about how happy you were but how broken and empty you felt. An ear to listen, a shoulder to lean on without judgement or condemnation. The stars were bright. They usually are.

It was pitch black outside that night, and I don’t even remember what your face looked like or what the look in your eyes may have been saying.

I’m still trying to feel captivated like that again.
